At its regular meeting Tuesday night, the Hannibal City Council approved submitting a request to the Marion County Commission for reimbursement of about half of the salaries of the city’s front line police and fire personnel.

Finance Director Karen Burditt told the council she would submit a request to the commission for a little over $457,000 in CARES reimbursement funds, covering half of police and fire front-line salaries from July 17th through December 30th.

The city had previously been approved for CARES funding, covering salaries from April 1st through July 16th.

The council also gave first readings to a code amendment covering drainage and flood control regulations, and amendments to standards for subdivisions.
