Video Shows a Bear Chowing Down on a Missouri Family’s Porch

This just in. Bears eat things. Actually, they eat lots of things. That means if you have edible things on your porch, it's possible you'll have a big hairy visitor like this Missouri family recently did.

KSDK News in St. Louis shared this video out of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. It's a very large predator who is chowing down on something just outside of their front door.

If you're not familiar with the area, Ste. Genevieve is located to the south of St. Louis.

While it's not common to see bears in residential neighborhoods, the terrain around Ste. Genevieve contains plenty of forests where a bear population could easily thrive.

Bear Wise has some helpful tips to make sure you're not making your property inviting for these large apex predators. They advise that you have your garbage in bear-proof containers and that you remove bird feeders if you're in an area with bears. Pet food can also be a target if left outside. It's good to remember that bears have a smell that is around 2,000 times more powerful than what a human has.
