The United Way of the Mark Twain Area gets a second big check from a state organization for its COVID-19 Response Fund.

United Way officials Monday announced the receipt of a second $50,000 from the Missouri Foundation for Health for the organization’s fund to help area agencies deal with the pandemic.

This additional funding will allow the United Way to supply local non-profit organizations with PPE’s and hand sanitizer, along with additional funds to do their work.

The United Way has already handed out over $30,000 to area non-profits, created senior care bags and distributed thousands of pounds of pork to area food pantries and senior centers.

The United Way is still taking applications for funding from the COVID-19 Response Fund and is taking contributions to the fund, as well.
