Monroe City Man Killed in Pike County IL SUV Crash

One Monroe City man is dead and another is seriously injured in an SUV crash on Pike County, Illinois Highway 10 east of Highway 96 just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Department reports 30 year old Jose Luis Parra Palma of Monroe City was westbound when his SUV ran off the road and struck a tree. A passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Palma was partially ejected.

Palma was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 30 year old Felipe Galan Almaraz, also of Monroe City, was taken by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis with serious injuries.

An investigation into the crash continues.
