Two Killed in Pike County I-72 Head On Crash

Both drivers are killed in a two car head on crash on Interstate 72 at Milepost 32 north of Pittsfield at 3:39 p.m. Tuesday.

The Illinois State Police reports a 58 year old Griggsville woman was westbound in the eastbound lanes of 72 and collided head on with an eastbound car, driven by a 52 year old man from Chatham, Illinois.

The identities of the man and woman are being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

The eastbound lanes of I-72 were shut down for about three-and-a-half hours Tuesday during the crash investigation, reopening about 7:15 p.m.
