Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the State of Illinois has established a new program that could assist you with your monthly rental payment, but you better sign up quickly.

The Illinois Housing Development Authority is taking applications for help with up to $5,000 of back rent owed since March 1st.

You can sign up for assistance at Two Rivers Regional Council in Quincy either online or over the phone, but you must to apply by Friday, August 21 if you want to be considered.

The impacted of COVID-19 has led to many people becoming unemployed through no fault of their own causing many to hold off rental payments to pay other bills This new program will help with up to $5,000 of back due rent according to the Two Rivers Regional Council.

There is a limited amount of funding available for this program so Two Rivers officials said people will be chosen for assistance at random.
