When shopping at Walmart, you will be asked to pay with debit or credit cards due to a national coin shortage.

The shortage started back in June, when the shutdown started effecting retail stores. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said, flow of funds through the economy has stopped."

In an effort to combat the coin shortage problem, Walmart is now asking their customers to please consider using debit/credit cards when shopping at their stores.

"Like most retailers, we’re experiencing the affects of the nation-wide coin shortage," said Avani Dudhia, spokesperson for Walmart. "We’re asking customers to pay with card or use correct change when possible if they need to pay with cash."

You will still be able to pay with cash, but there will be designated registers for cash only checkouts. There is no word yet on how long this policy will last.
