This could have been so much worse. A dramatic doorbell cam video captured the moment when a snowmobile went airborne and flew into a Midwestern family's garage just moments after they left it.

Here's how the family described this near miss on the YouTube video share:

The snowmobile had the throttle stuck, and the driver bailed and sent the snowmobile into my garage. Roughly 20 seconds before this, my wife left. No one was hurt, thankfully

The fact that the family and snowmobiler escaped injury is miraculous. This happened in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota on December 18, 2021.

While we haven't seen much snow in the lower Midwestern states yet, the northern states have seen plenty. Snowmobiles are a common sight after these storms and it's likely this snowmobiler was not traveling very fast before that throttle stuck.

Based on the trajectory of where the snowmobile hit the garage, if the people leaving it were only a few seconds slower, it could easily have caused them serious injury. The snowmobiler was fortunate that he released the machine or he would have become a projectile also.

As it stands, it's just a crazy story (and video) to share with an insurance adjuster. It could have been so much worse.
