Nominate Caregivers Who Need Cookie Love!
What the world needs now is cookie love. You can share the love with local caregivers and heroes by joining a new nationwide movement that has made its way to the Hannibal area.
The local chapter of Cookies for Caregivers was started by Sarah Sanders Hood. The original concept came last fall from two dads in Pennsylvania who wanted to acknowledge the caregivers who have continued to serve during this worldwide pandemic. They posted about it on Facebook and within weeks, bakers all over the country fired up their ovens and joined in. That’s just what Sarah did in Hannibal.
“I saw a post about it on Facebook and looked to see if we had a group in the Hannibal area. When I saw that we didn’t have any near us, I took it upon myself to start one,” she told me. “I wanted to help spread some cookie love to our area. It feels so good to put smiles on the faces of our Hannibal area front line heroes.”
A few bakers have helped Sarah bake and deliver fresh cookies to several facilities around town since she started the group in February. They’ve dropped off treats to the cancer center, a nursing home, clinics, and even a veterinary office.
Even as our COVID numbers improve in our area, Sarah and her team of bakers want to continue to spread cookie love. You can help by baking, delivering, or donating to the cause. Visit Hannibal’s Cookies for Caregivers Facebook Page to nominate a facility or to join this national movement to show appreciation to our local caregivers.
