Officers received a report about 1:20 a.m. Thursday that 25 year old Tiffani Thompson of Ames, Iowa had tried to enter a vehicle on 5th Street. She then ran from the scene, tried to drive off in another vehicle but was stopped by the vehicle’s owner.

Thompson is then alleged to have tried to get into an Adams County Sheriff’s car, but the deputy was able to stop her and take Thompson into custody.

Thompson is charged with theft over $500 and criminal trespass to vehicle.

She and an Iowa man had been arrested earlier in the day when they came to Quincy in a car stolen from Keokuk.

Thompson is in the Adams County Jail.
