Riverfront renovation and feral cats were among the topics covered by the Hannibal City Council Tuesday night.

The council approved a change order, adding about $34,000 to the cost of the city’s riverfront renovation project.

The additional cost is to protect electrical infrastructure when the river reaches flood levels. The Hannibal Board of Public Works is paying for the electrical costs of the riverfront project.

Also Tuesday night, the council voted to modify the city code to allow a trap-neuter-return program to be put in place by the Northeast Missouri Humane Society to deal with the feral cat problem in the city.

Final approval of the modified ordinance will take place at the council’s next meeting.
