We've seen a lot of investigations of the Old Missouri State Penitentiary over the years. The fact that most ghost hunters consider it one of the most haunted places in the Midwest is the reason why. One TV show recently returned to the penitentiary and found new things that went bump in the night.

Destination Fear is one of the favorites on the Travel Channel. Here's an update they shared a couple months ago about why they decided the old Missouri pen needed another investigation:

Dakota blindsides the team when he decides to amp up the fear at what once was the bloodiest prison in America. Chelsea can barely hold it together when the ghost of a child kidnapper won't stop trying to communicate with her in the god-forsaken facility. Maverick paranormal explorer Dakota Laden takes his sister, Chelsea Laden, and best friend, Tanner Wiseman, on a cross-country road trip to visit the most-haunted locations in America. At each terrifying stop, the trio's unbreakable bond is put the test as they face their deepest, darkest fears.

This is the result of what Destination Fear experienced that night including that creepy "ghost" of the child kidnapper.

47 acres of blood? When that is the best description for an area, it's no surprise that evil still remains there. I found it interesting that some former guards recounted the brutal beatings that many prisoners would receive. The mention that you would measure the awfulness of the day based on how much your shoes were filled with blood was chilling.

It's another reason why the old Missouri State Penitentiary maintains its reputation as one of the most haunted and evil destinations in Missouri and perhaps throughout all of America.
