America’s Favorite Jelly Bean—Buttered Popcorn? YUCK!
On Easter Sunday, Americans will devour 16 billion jelly beans. They’ll pick through the pile of jelly beans with their grubby, germ-ridden fingers to find their favorite flavor. And it’s buttered popcorn. Nasty.
I know we are living in unprecedented times where Americans are equal parts divided and offended all too often. Maybe I shouldn’t contribute to this contemporary atmosphere of divide and offend with my declaration of disgust for buttered popcorn Jelly Belly Beans. Let me clarify. I don’t really have a beef with you if you like that slimy coating of butter clinging to the roof of your mouth. By all means, you do you!
Here's what candystore.com has to say:
“Yes, it’s polarizing. But it’s also America’s number one favorite jelly bean flavor. Thousands of people love this smooth, salty and savory jelly bean the best, while others scrunch up their noses when it’s mentioned. Some even write nasty comments about it in their survey form… :) But when the results were tallied, more people loved buttered popcorn flavor than any other.”
My opinion on the best jelly bean flavor is just as polarizing as buttered popcorn. I’m reaching for the black licorice jelly bean first. That is offensive to about half the people reading this. You misguided people are happy that I’m getting those black beans out of your way so you can have the buttered popcorn flavor to yourself. Next to politics, I’m not sure that anything inspires as much passion than the black jelly bean. People stick firmly to one of two camps: love ‘em or hate ‘em.
