There are moments where you can easily predict what's gonna happen. Walk out in the rain and you'll get wet. Stay out in the sun too long without sunscreen and you'll get a sunburn. Go to Wakonda State Park near LaGrange, Missouri and you'll get geese. Lots and lots of geese.

I was reminded of this absolute tri-state area truth when I saw that Wakonda State Park near La Grange, Missouri was listed among the 5 places in Missouri where you can camp all year long on Only In Your State. That's more or less true. One thing they don't mention are the geese and their insatiable appetites. Doubt me? Watch.

I'm not picking on this family. They're not alone in their geese struggle.

I even saw a YouTube travel channel do a review of Wakonda State Park and they didn't even mention anything about the geese, but look who shows up at around the :52 second mark. Spoiler Alert: it's a squad of geese.

Please don't take this as an anti-geese tirade. Yes, bird watching (meaning geese watching) is part of the fun of Wakonda State Park for sure. I'm just alerting you that when the birds find out you have food with you (and it's only a matter of when not if), you will feel like a hockey goalie trying to keep your sandwiches and chips away from them.

Don't ask me how I know.
