Today Marks The Winter Solstice
Winter officially arrived this Monday morning at 4:02 a.m. Central Time. The official term for winter arriving is the Winter Solstice.
The Winter Solstice marks the longest night in Northern Hemisphere and longest day in the Southern Hemisphere meaning we will all experience the shortest day of sunlight today in the Northern Hemisphere and the longest day of sunlight in the Southern Hemisphere. Today Quincy will only experience 9 hours and 20 minutes of daylight.
Therefore, starting tomorrow the days (meaning time of sunlight) will get longer until we reach the height of daylight per day on the Summer Solstice which will take place on Sunday, June 20, 2021.
