This Missouri Mine Offers Boat Tours and Scuba Diving

I was born and raised in Missouri and have lived there most of my life and even I had not heard of the Missouri mine that offers boat tours and scuba diving.

Kudos to Only In Your State for bringing this to my attention. They recently shared a story about how you can explore an old lead mine. The mine/cave they're talking about is Bonne Terre Mine.

The official Bonne Terre Mine website claims they are the world's largest fresh water dive resort. That's right. You can dive here. While they offer the underground walking and boat tours, scuba diving is possible if you are a certified diver.

The good news is their longer summer hours are in effect through September with shorter winter hours between October and May. Their website says the tours last around an hour and involve around 65 steps if that's a factor for you.

The website indicates they have lodging options if you want to make this an overnight adventure.

It's called the dive to the center of the Earth. That's not far from the truth as you can see remnants of mine cars and other objects from a far distant past.

The Bonne Terre Mine remains open even as the pandemic continues although they do have some health guidelines you'll need to follow if you're interested in being a part of a tour.

It's one of the most unique underground experiences you can imagine and it's located in Missouri for a potential future adventure for you and/or your family.
