The Palmyra Panthers make the long road trip to southeast Missouri Saturday afternoon to try and punch their ticket to the Edward Jones Dome Thanksgiving weekend.

Palmyra makes the trip to Malden to take on the Green Wave in the Class 2 State Football Semifinals at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Both these ball clubs got to the semis a year ago, but both came away frustrated. While Palmyra was losing to South Callaway 27-2, Malden came out on the short end of a 28-2 score to eventual state champion Lamar.

The undefeated Green Wave faced its toughest test of the season in the quarterfinals, taking three overtimes to overcome Cardinal Ritter 50-44. Meanwhile, the Panthers built up a 28-0 first half lead over Lutheran North, and then held on for a 38-28 win.

The winner of the Palmyra-Malden matchup faces the winner of the Lamar-Lafayette County game at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis in the Class 2 state championship game at 4:15 p.m. Friday.

If you can't make the trip to Malden Saturday, you can listen to the semifinal contest on Y101, Y101radio.com or Radio Pup on your phone, with the pregame with Harold Smith starting at 12:40 p.m.
