Nasty Weather Gone, Warmer Temps on the Way
After a Sunday of mixed precipitation made Monday's trip to work dicey and caused some school cancellations, things will start to look up by the end of the week in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.
National Weather Service forecasters say the combination of freezing rain, sleet, rain and snow that gummed up the works has moved on. Temperatures Monday will slide throughout the day, not stopping until they bottom out at plus-five Monday night.
Highs are expected to hit 20 Tuesday and 27 Wednesday, with lows of 11 Tuesday night and 17 Wednesday night.
The warmup starts Thursday with a high of 35, then moving into the mid to upper 40s Friday through Sunday. Lows are predicted to drop to 21 Thursday and hover around 30 for the weekend.
Other than a chance of flurries Wednesday, there is no precipitation in the local forecast through Sunday.
