Bear sightings are on the rise in Missouri and the state wants you to let them know if you have an encounter with one of these predators. It's so easy to file a report, you can do it in way less than a minute even if you take your time.
The state of Missouri has made the process of reporting a bear sighting quick and easy. If you go to their bear sighting reporting site, you'll see this simple form.
I haven't seen a bear in the wilds of Missouri (yet), but I estimate you could complete the form in about 15 seconds.
How many bears are in Missouri anyway?
The Missouri Department of Conservation Black Bear Project estimated that there are at least 900 black bears in the state now and the numbers are growing. They say that the black bear population in Missouri is likely increasing at a rate of at least 9% every single year. That means if you haven't seen a bear in the wild yet, but spend a lot of time camping and fishing, the odds are you will sooner or later. At least now the process of reporting the sighting to the state of Missouri is now easier than ever.
