The good news is the winter storm has completed its path across Missouri this weekend. The bad news is that some areas were slammed by more than 13 inches of snow and law enforcement authorities received more than 1,200 calls for help.

I came across two very telling shares on social media today. The first Chris Higgins on Fox 2 in St. Louis who shared snowfall totals from around Missouri. Notice that Ste. Genevieve officially received more than 13 inches of snow.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis has just shared their preliminary estimates and they say the Fredericktown received a whopping 14 inches of snow.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol also shared their totals from the winter storm response this weekend as they said they responded to more than 1,200 distress requests.

In case you can't see their totals, here are the Missouri State Highway Patrol numbers:

  • 1,234 Calls for service
  • 248 Stranded motorists
  • 182 Non-injury crashes
  • 26 Injury crashes
  • 1 Fatality crash (non-weather related)

All things considered, Missouri could have fared much worse. There are literally millions without power across many states that were drenched with ice including Tennessee and many states in the south. I've seen pictures of trees that were decimated with ice that took down power lines. Missouri is fortunate that most of the difficulties came from just snow.
