It's said that truth is stranger than fiction and in this case, I believe it's true. I'm not exaggerating when I pass along the news that a woman from Iowa was just busted in Minnesota for possessing illegal giraffe poop.

This lovely bulletin comes from the US Customs and Border Protection regarding something you are not allowed to bring into the United States. They state that on September 29, 2023, a woman from Iowa declared that she possessed this.

That is giraffe poopy. Here are the exact words from the feds on what went down at an airport in Minnesota:

The passenger declared giraffe feces and stated she had obtained the droppings in Kenya and planned to make a necklace. The passenger also stated in the past she had used moose feces at her home in Iowa.

I have so many questions. A giraffe poop necklace? I have obviously not been keeping up with the latest fashion trends.

As tempted as I am to laugh at someone's exotic necklace plans, this is a serious health issue as the government mentions that Kenya is currently dealing with "African Swine Fever, Classical Swine Fever, Newcastle disease, Foot and Mouth disease, and Swine Vesicular Disease". Bringing in feces from Kenya means potential bad things entering America that were not here previously.

There's no mention what part of Iowa the woman hails from, but if you see someone who comes from the Children of the Corn place with a smelly necklace, you might want to head the other way.
