There was a close encounter of the brown bear kind near Beardstown, Illinois recently. One of these large predators was spotted swimming across the Illinois River.

It appears that the guy that shared the video specializes in sharing the adventures aboard his trawler. He explains exactly where he was at and what was going down.

You won't have to wait long to see the bear as it appears near the very beginning of his new video share.

It makes me wonder if this is the same bear that NBC Chicago reported on a few weeks ago. It's a black bear that's being tracked in southern Illinois. This isn't exactly southern Illinois, but it's not impossible to think that bear could have traveled this far over the past month.

The Beardstown area is just over an hour from Quincy. Makes me wonder if we'll have another close encounter with bears in our part of Illinois at some point.
