On Friday, July 24, officers with the Hannibal Police Department arrested 31-year-old Joseph J. Richardson on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and 2 counts of Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

While conducting a home visit at Richardson’s residence, located in the 2000 block of Gordon St, Agents with the Federal Probation and Parole Office smelled what they believed to be marijuana. The agents located a large amount of marijuana in a bedroom closet and contacted the Hannibal Police Department.

Hannibal officers obtained and executed a search warrant for the residence. During the course of the search, officers located a large amount of what is believed to be powder cocaine and a large amount of what is believed to be crack cocaine, along with the marijuana located by the parole agents.

Richardson was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Marion County Jail. On Saturday, July 25, the Circuit Court of Marion County issued a warrant for Richardson, charging him with Drug Trafficking 2 degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute. Richardsons bond was set at $100,000.00 cash only. He remains in the Marion County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
