As multiple media outlets have reported today, recreational marijuana use is now legal in Missouri. KSDK in St. Louis reported that the latest numbers show Amendment 3 passed with 53% of the voters (1,089,326) saying to approve the measure with 47% (961,909) saying no.

The website Norml broke down the details of what the law means. They said the amendment was about "legalizing the possession, cultivation, and licensed retail sale of cannabis for those ages 21 and older." Here are some other details of Amendment 3:

Adults 21 and over can possess "three ounces of cannabis and to home-cultivate up to six flowering plants, six immature plants, and six plants under 14 inches for their own personal use."
"Eligible non-violent marijuana-related marijuana offenses" convicts can apply to have their records expunged.
Ogletree Deakins adds that Amendment 3 protects workers from employers saying they cannot discriminate if a person has a medical marijuana identification card or uses marijuana when they're not working or tests positive in a drug test for the substance. The amendment does not allow for a worker to be under the influence of marijuana while working or use the substance during work hours that would violate a company's standing drug policy.
