This is the opening weekend for the Hannibal Jaycees' annual Warehouse of Nightmares Haunted House. As always, the Jaycees have been plotting and planning since the last haunted house on the best ways to scare the stuffin' out of the bravest of souls.

The Warehouse of Nightmares is open every Friday and Saturday in October from 7:30 to Midnight on South 3rd in Hannibal. Admission is $10. There are also escape rooms you can try for an additional $5.

The Barry community hosts its annual Apple Festival for the first time since 2019, with activities continuing through Sunday.

Saturday's highlights include a 5k Run, a Baby Contest and a Pet Parade in the morning, a grand parade and Battle of the Drum Lines in the afternoon and music by Garcia Harrison in the evening.

Sunday in Barry features a Car Show, a Community Church Service and gospel music by The Lesters.

Another area event back after a year off is the Louisiana Country Colorfest.

There's a parade, a car show and music by Joey Wray and Burnt Toast Saturday and a charity motorcycle rally, a cornhole tournament and music by John Fiazo and Shades in Blue Sunday.

And, there will be craft vendors both days, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
