It's not exactly breaking news that it's hot this week. However, according to the National Weather Service, we'll see heat unlike anything we've ever seen during this part of May.

The National Weather Service out of St. Louis shared this interesting tidbit this morning on their official Facebook page.

I've asked my wife the meteorologist to clarify this and my understanding is that the heat index hitting 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the Hannibal/Quincy area this early in May is a record. The previous earliest date is May 26, 1953. Translation? It's gonna be really dang hot and that dew point being as high as it is will make it FEEL really hot.

Here's the current forecast from the National Weather Service for Hannibal this week.

Again, not breaking news that it's hot and getting hotter. Just know that the heat you'll be enduring will likely be historic.
