Dick's Sporting Goods is joining other major retailers and will not open on Thanksgiving 2020.

With coronavirus cases spiking all across the United States, major retailers are planning for the fall and winter shopping season by canceling Thanksgiving Day shopping. Dick's Sporting Goods according to USAtoday.com is the next retailer to announce they will not be opening on Thanksgiving Day, following along the lines of Walmart, Sam's Club, and Target who have also all announced they will not be open on Thanksgiving Day.

According to the USA Today article, they say...

"All Dick's stores will operate with "standard business hours" on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and information "on holiday hours, which begin Friday, November 27, will be shared at a later date"

So there you have it, major retailers taking matters into their own hands to give their employees the time to spend with their families after what has been such a challenging year. Also in my opinion this is just a precursor to Black Friday, I will be completely shocked if the major retailers in the United States go forward with Black Friday as planned if there isn't a massive change in the battle against the coronavirus. Obviously things with the virus are changing daily, but how would the store manage the massive crowds and keep people following social distancing guidelines during the Black Friday rush. Personally I would be shocked if we see a "normal" Black Friday in 2020. But for now we know at least the major stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, and we wait to see what they will do with Black Friday.
