Are your Chances of Divorcing Higher if you Live in Illinois?
A study came out that shows shocking results when it comes to individual states and their divorce rates, do you think you are more likely or less likely to get divorced in the state of Illinois?
According to an article from usnews.com that was published at the end of 2020, there are states with much higher divorce rates than others, and where Illinois lands on the list may shock you. The article claims that the states with the highest number of divorced women per 1,000 married individuals are Arkansas number one followed closely by Oklahoma in second, Nevada in third (surprised it wasn't number 1 with Vegas), with New Mexico and Kentucky rounding out the top 5.
When it comes to states with the LOWEST number of divorced women per 1,000 married individuals Illinois ranks 5th lowest only behind Maine number one, with South Dakota second, followed by New York and Pennsylvania third and fourth.
"But as the divorce rate has dropped nationally, so has the marriage rate. In 2009, there were approximately 17.6 new marriages for every 1,000 women 15 years old and older, while 2019 saw 16.3 new marriages."
I am not shocked to see the marriage rate going down in the United States, people in the millennial generation and younger don't have the same desires for marriage as the previous generations. I am a 30 year old millennial, and I will say that most of my friends aren't married, and the ones that are getting married have waited longer. Do you think this is an issue for our country or just the new way of life?
