Almost every family has certain members that just don't get along. Of course we all try to make the best of things at the holidays, but it's not always easy. In fact, a new survey from Travelocity found 48% of Americans admitting that they've used an excuse to get away early on Thanksgiving!

Travelocity found that the most common excuse for leaving Thanksgiving early is "not feeling well" (27%), then "going to bed early" and "catching up on work" (both at 10%).

According to the same survey, the family member that people most want to avoid is the "loud mouth" (24%), followed by the "picky eater" (21%) and then the "high maintenance guest" (19%).

Additional survey questions involved Thanksgiving food. The most-common request for Americans is incorporating locally-sourced ingredients (25%), low-carb side dishes (22%), a different main dish than turkey (22%), heavy hors d'oeuvres style (15%), cupcakes instead of pie for dessert (15%), and gluten-free food options (11%).

Even if you're not crazy about some of your family members, try to have a great holiday. And remember, even though the excuses listed above are the most commonly used excuses for getting away early, they're not the only ones out there. If you come up with a good one, be sure to let us know!
