The 2020 Knights of Columbus BBQ is officially CANCELED, here is what you need to know...

In a press release the Quincy Knights of Columbus have announced that they are cancelling their 2020 BBQ event scheduled for August 13th through the 16th. In the press release they say...

"After much debate, the Quincy Knights of Columbus have decided to cancel the annual KC Bar-B-Que due to the Covid-19 pandemic....One of the big attractions at the annual event has been the carnival rides. Since many county and state fairs have canceled their events this summer, the carnival folks will not be traveling with their equipment throughout the area....Even though most of the Bar-B-Que activities are held out doors, it would be difficult to practice the social distancing requirements mandated by the state. Safety of the numerous workers for the event would also be a concern since a lot of planning meetings, set up, food and beverage preparation go into the four-day event each year."

They go on to say how this BBQ is their largest fundraiser of the year and this is the first time that it has been canceled since 1961. They also hope to have the BBQ event scheduled for 2021 to be their biggest and best event ever. As a reminder the other services at their property on 36th street in Quincy are open like the golf course and driving range, among other things.

This cancellation doesn't come as a shock to me, but I will say, I'm really bummed out on missing this event this year. I had such a blast at my first ever KofC BBQ last year, and I'm already looking forward to 2021!
