You can say what you want about the importance of competition. For me, I'll take moments like this over that any day. During a high school game in Michigan, a blind player made a basket and brought down the house.

Her name is Jules Hoogland. She is a junior at Zeeland East High School in Michigan. They have an interesting program called "unified sports" where students with and without disabilities sometimes compete together. Recently, Jules stepped to the line and attempted to make a basket using only sound as her guide. This is the reason why this video is trending on Digg and other national sites this week.

And the crowd goes wild...

I'm a fan of competitive sports as much as the next person. There's a time and place for that. But, I'd love to see more moments like this where students who face physical challenges are given the chance to have a victory like Jules did. Imagine how her parents must have felt at that moment as their daughter nails a basket and gets a huge roar from the crowd. Love it.

I agree with this man's comment on YouTube 100%:

Philip Mont - "Everyone hushes for her shot, and everyone cheers her success, even the opposition players and supporters. The true spirit of sport."

I could not agree more. Great moment that we need more of.
