Utility Assistance Available For Low-Income Illinois Residents

Utility assistance will be available to low-income families but you must sign up by Tuesday, May 31.

All recipients of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will be able to receive a one-time payment of $200 to help pay their utility bills. This is a total of $386 million and will help over 200,000 households in Illinois. Mystateline.com first reported the announcement made by the governor.

If your family is struggling to pay utilities, you can sign up for the LIHEAP assistance plan, but in order to receive the $200 one-time payment, you need to sign up by May 31. You have to sign up in person and in Adams County, you can visit the Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officals to get more information.

If you are currently a LIHEAP recipient there is nothing you have to do.
