Trial of Former Correctional Officers Delayed Until April
The trial of three correctional officers charged in connection with the 2018 death of a state prison inmate has been delayed.

The trial of Alex Banta of Quincy, Todd Sheffler of Mendon and Willie Hedden of Mt. Sterling was to have begun Tuesday, but has now been postponed until April 6th.
The three face charges in connection with the death of Larry Earvin, an inmate at the Western Illinois Correctional Center in Mt. Sterling.
Banta, Sheffler and Hedden are alleged to have assaulted Earvin May 17th, 2018, during an escort to a segregated prison unit.
Earvin died of his injuries a month later.
