A couple of home invasion stories made headlines in 2014. The first took place at a home at 9th and Locust in July. A manhunt for the suspects ensued, leading to a lock down of the Illinois Veterans Home. 18-year-old James Phillips and 23-year-old Chadwick Kelly were taken into custody for the crime.
The second home invasion case came in November in the 300 block of Cedar. Victims reported three young black men entered the home and demanded money. One of the victims was hurt when he was struck with a hand gun. Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the case: 22-year-old Marnell Fulton of Chicago, 23-year-old Lacey Delcour of Payson, 26-year-old Murquise Wooden and 21-year-old Roy Parker, both of Quincy.
