It's been 15 years since any of us set foot in one of their stores.

It's time to face the fact that the era of shopping malls in Missouri is nearly over. Very few remain that thrive and a recent walk through one that hasn't closed yet shows what little remains inside these nearly dead Missouri shopping places.

My wife spent the better part of her young life in Keokuk, Iowa so my family knows a thing or two about the mall there. A new video investigation allows you to take a virtual lonely walk through the very little that is left in what used to be a shopping hub in southeast Iowa.

Malls used to be the go-to locations for not just shopping, but hanging out with friends. Those days are long gone as another mall in Illinois has announced a permanent closing date in March after 43 years in business.

Let's face it. The era of thriving malls in America is probably in the rear view mirror now, but it didn't used to be that way. There are two malls that are considered among the worst in America that used to thrive but 'fell into ruin' and they used to call Illinois home.

Phones used to be attached to walls with cords. Movies used to need to be rewound and returned to a rental store. The common hangout place used to be malls, but that era has now passed, too. There's a video showing one final walk through a Missouri mall that was demolished 14 years ago.
