Gateway Arch

I don't want to giveaway my exact age, but let's just say that I am way overdue to begin my midlife crisis. It's a good thing I live in Missouri because there are no better states I can think of to begin a middle of life meltdown.

When I think of tall structures in Missouri, I immediately think of big skyscrapers in St. Louis and Kansas City, but neither city has the tallest structure in the state. As a matter of fact, the tallest structure in Missouri isn't a building at all.

Since it's summer, thunderstorms rolling through the St. Louis, Missouri area is not an unusual thing. What is not common though is lightning from a recent storm struck the Gateway Arch again.

Some take unusual to be a negative thing. I don't. In my opinion, I'd rather be unusual and unique than boring and predictable. (Editor's Note: Mission Accomplished) That's why the fact that Missouri has one of the most unusual national parks in America should be worn like a badge of honor.

When it comes to technology, sometimes it's best to not trust your eyes. This is a perfect example. There's a guy who believed he was seeing a portal near the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Nope, but what he found is an interesting example of new technology trying to deal with the real world.

I could say that I've found a shocking moment to share with you, but that would overload my pun meter. It truly is an awesome sight as there's a short, but sweet video of lightning striking the Gateway Arch in St. Louis with a massive charge of 300 million volts.

Many believe that lightning always strikes the tallest conductive objects. There's proof that isn't always the case as new video shows a huge bolt of lightning barely missing the Gateway Arch in St. Louis.

I have lived in either Missouri or Illinois the vast majority of my life, but I still occasionally find things to do that I've never heard about. A brunch on a riverboat under the Gateway Arch is one of them.

There are few states in America with a richer history than Missouri. Over the years, the National Park Service has worked to preserve many of these places and has shared pictures as a part of that effort.

Unless you're Spiderman, you'll never know what it's really like to hang outside of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. However, thanks to some repair work, there is video to give you an idea of that perspective.
