I was under the impression that Florida was one of the top destinations for people fleeing other states. Apparently, I had that backwards as there is new evidence showing that there is currently an exodus happening from the Sunshine State and many are heading directly toward Illinois.
More than 10,000 Wisconsin residents move to Florida every single year. That means more than 10,000 Wisconsin people are in for a big culture shock once they land in the land of sunshine and oranges.
Even with my admittedly feeble understanding of geography, I'm pretty sure this isn't accurate. The fastest-growing brand in Missouri is reportedly a steakhouse from Florida. How is that even possible?
I have fully accepted that I was not born to understand everything, but I'm mystified about why there is a provable trend of people fleeing Florida for rural Missouri. There's real science and data to prove this is happening.
