It is the Christmas season and people are out purchasing gifts for loved ones and some will even be getting a pet for their kids this holiday.  It's a wonderful gift, but it is also a gift that will be yours for the life of your pet.

They need love, food, water, shelter and from time to time medical attention 24/7/365. When giving a pet for Christmas, remember this is a long term venture. All too often pets are given for Christmas and then a few weeks later reality sets in and the owner considers the pet to be an inconvenience.

I repeat, pets are wonderful gift, but do your homework. Check with adoption centers and ask questions about what it takes to be a dog or cat owner. Nine times out of ten you will be glad you adopted a loving pet. It's that one time out of ten situations that I hope won't happen.
