Quincy Police Reports Return of ‘IRS Phone Scam’
Quincy Police have received reports of variations on an old phone scam are making the rounds.
Officers say a scam commonly referred to as the “IRS Phone Scam” is back, with a new twist.
Scammers call to tell you your Social Security number has been involved with criminal activity, with the scammers identifying themselves as Officer Robert Copley with Quincy Police and provide a fictitious badge number.
QPD reminds you that neither law enforcement nor Social Security will call you and ask you to send money to avoid being arrested. If you receive one of these calls, just hang up.
