COVID-19 hast just effected high school football in Illinois, it has also effected the performing arts students as well. With all of the restrictions on gatherings it means that the traditional performing arts schedules can't go on as planned, but Quincy Senior High School's Music and Theatre departments have come up with something special!

In a press release sent out today from the Quincy Senior High School Music and Fine Arts departments they announced "Broadway Battle: A Monologue & Showtune Competition" in the press release they say...

"Due to COVID19 restrictions our annual fall musical has been postponed until spring. To give our students an opportunity to shine on stage this fall we are planning something new, “Broadway Battle” A Monologue and Showtune Virtual Competition...Broadway Battle monologue and showtune student acts will be recorded early this fall and virtually adjudicated by experts in theatre and vocal performance from across the United States. "

The show will air virtually on November 14th and to reserve your free ticket to see the performances www.qpsmusic.org/tickets.

This gits very close to home for me, not only because I am still waiting to perform in Chicago the Musical at QCT due to COVID-19 restrictions. But because as a high school theatre kid I cant imagine being a senior this year and not being able to perform in shows and be on the stage with my friends and having my family watch, a lot of the focus has been on the athletes not getting to compete but so many other students are missing out on the things they love too.
