Great weather this morning greeted folks participating in the Hannibal Cannibal 5k, 10k, 15K, 5K Walk and Kids Fun Run coursing through the downtown area and out Highway 79.

Larry Davis from Quincy, Illinois was one of over 2100 people competing in the USA certified track and field event. He placed 2nd in the age 60-64 group running the 15K.  Davis says it gets easier as he gets older - not as many competitors in the age group.

Davis says he thoroughly enjoys the course and has entered the Cannibal a number of times. “The Hill” as Davis affectionately calls the Lover’s Leap part of the course, is always a challenge.  He wonders every year if he will have to walk it. Once again,  Davis proved he is not "over the hill" by running up the steep incline. The grueling run up Lover's Leap gives credence to the Cannibal's race slogan, "It'll Eat You Up!".

The Hannibal Cannibal turned 20 years old this year. 100% of the proceeds from the event go to the Hannibal Regional Hospital Foundation.
