Rapper Lil' Wayne performed for an impressive 15,427 fans which surpassed the previous record of 15,329 set by Jason Aldean in 2011. The rapper's performance not only captivated the crowd but also highlighted the fair's growing appeal.

Governor Pritzker Celebrates Inclusivity and Community

Governor JB Pritzker praised the event, noting that the fair is a celebration of diversity and unity.

Yesterday, our naturalization ceremony welcomed nearly 200 new citizens from 49 countries. That night, Lil Wayne smashed concert attendance records. Both events provided opportunities for people of all backgrounds, faiths, and musical tastes to come together and celebrate our differences as well as our similarities -Illinois Governor, J.B. Pritzker

Jerry Costello II, Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, emphasized the importance of variety in the fair’s programming.

“Our team worked hard to ensure something for everyone at the Grandstand, and Lil Wayne is a rap legend,” Costello noted. “Breaking the previous attendance records underscores the importance of a diverse lineup at the Illinois State Fair.”

Jonas Brothers Grandstand Show Starts Early Due to Severe Weather

Due to impending severe weather, fans of the Jonas Brothers had to scramble to arrive earlier than expected for their Illinois State Fair show on Thursday night (8/15).

According to a press release from the Illinois State Fair, the start time for the show was moved up to 7 pm, with a sold-out pre-party underway at 4:30 pm.

Upcoming Grandstand Shows and Ticket Information

The Illinois State Fair’s Grandstand lineup continues with Smashing Pumpkins on Friday, Miranda Lambert on Saturday, and Shaboozey closing out the fair on Sunday.
