MLB shared the story of Matt Holliday stepping down as St. Louis Cardinals bench coach. He will be replaced by Joe McEwing. MLB Trade Rumors shared that there is a belief that Matt wants to spend more time with his family and this led to his decision to not join Oli Marmol as the Cardinals bench coach after previously accepting the position. They say that belief was reported on by Bob Nightengale from USA Today andKatie Woo and of The Athletic.

As this is a developing story, I will update it once Matt Holliday releases an official statement himself. He has shared in the past how important his family is to him. Perhaps he plans to spend more time with his son Jackson Holliday who was chosen as the 1st round pick last summer by the Baltimore Orioles. Time will tell, but wish Matt and his family the best moving forward.
