Here are 6 Illinois public high schools that are part of the 50 best in the nation. Outstanding. By the way, there is science at work here with each school ranked based on graduation rate, SAT and ACT scores among many other metrics.

44. Hinsdale Central High School - Hinsdale, Illinois, Graduation rate 94%, Avg. SAT score: 1360 out of 1600, Avg. ACT score: 31 out of 36.

38. Glenbrook North High School - Northbrook, Illinois, Graduation rate 98%, Avg. SAT score: 1340 out of 1600, Avg. ACT score: 30 out of 36.

35. Glenbrook South High School - Glenview, Illinois, Graduation rate 98%, Avg. SAT score: 1310 out of 1600, Avg. ACT score: 30 out of 36.

34. Neuqua Valley High School - Naperville, Illinois, Graduation rate 98%, Avg. SAT score: 1330 out of 1600, Avg. ACT score: 29 out of 36.

Back when I was in high school (my kids refer to it as the Stone Age), I got a 27 on my ACT test and thought I was a genius. My score wouldn't even be considered average by these Illinois high schools.
