I was the one that added the question mark. I felt like I had to when I learned that St. Louis, Missouri had just been named one of the most jolly cities in America because I have so many questions.

When you think of St. Louis, does the word "jolly" come to mind?

It's not a rhetorical question. I'm really curious if I am the only one that doesn't think of the Christmas spirit when I think of St. Louis. Finance Buzz does, however, as they just named St. Louis the 4th most jolly city in America. This isn't just a trivial writer's opinion, but the result of dozens of different metrics including the number of holiday events and festivals per 100K people and the percentage of the population that donates to charity annually.

St. Louis was also given a high "jolly" score because of the more than 30 skating rinks and a very high number of holiday decoration shops. The Gateway to the West also has a high percentage of the population that donates to charities. Say what you will about the St. Louis area, but philanthropy is one of the most admirable characteristics of a city and there are many generous people there. St. Louis only trailed Salt Lake City, Minneapolis and Pittsburgh when it comes to being a jolly place.
