If you're a fan of the underdog, you will likely appreciate this. When you think of Illinois, the first thing that comes to mind likely is NOT BBQ. However, one tiny BBQ joint in Illinois just took down all the others and was named among the best BBQ places in America.

One of the more prolific food websites is the appropriately-named Love Food. They recently ranked the best barbeque restaurants in America which included a who's who of iconic food joints, but it was their choice of a Chicago place as their champion which got my attention.

Congrats to Smoque BBQ located at 3800 N. Pulaski in Chicago, Illinois for being named among the best barbeque restaurants in America.

I remember that Chicago's Best on YouTube visited them years ago and talked to patrons about why they chose Smoque's BBQ and nearly everyone said the brisket is the best item they make. The Love Food ranking mentioned their brisket, too, recommending that you pick up "a brisket platter or pulled pork sandwich with slaw, baked mac ’n’ cheese, and a cornbread muffin". They are not wrong.

Most think of Kansas City or Memphis when barbeque becomes a topic. Perhaps Chicago should now be a part of that conversation as the Windy City now tops yet another favorite food list.
