Leaked Nuclear Plan Shows a Secret Bunker Hidden Under Illinois

It really shouldn't come as a surprise that America has many plans in the event that a worst-case scenario nuclear attack happens, but there is one that has just come to light that shows a plan exists where officials could be hurried to a secret bunker that is located somewhere under Illinois and I don't think it's Chicago.

Have you heard of a plan called "Save Eagle Protocol"? Probably not as most of the government's plans to protect the country's command and control in the event of an enemy strike are highly classified. Some that existed during the Cold War are starting to come to light thanks to technology now.

One of the scenarios that has been revealed is the United States used to have (or perhaps still does have) secret bunkers placed strategically across the country. The concept is that it would allow the President of the United States to quickly get underground no matter where he or she was at the time across America.

For obvious reasons, the exact location of where this bunker is in Illinois is still unknown, but it's almost certainly not near Chicago considering the fact that the Windy City would be a likely first-strike nuclear target. I would estimate it's somewhere near Springfield, Illinois considering that's a convenient central location in the state a nearly equal distance from bunkers that are apparently in southeastern Kentucky and east-central South Dakota.

The leaked plan also revealed that the supplies stored in these bunkers including the one in Illinois are very rudimentary and only have non-perishable rations designed to keep government officials alive long enough to decide what to do next.

The Department of Homeland Security has very public warnings and precautions for the general public in the event of a surprise nuclear attack. It's interesting to get a peek behind the curtain though and see what previously classified plans for the government included. It appears that at least one involves surviving the apocalypse under the Land of Lincoln.
