Internet weather personality Ryan Hall has just issued his outlook for the upcoming winter and he sees ice storms and supercells in Missouri's future.

Ryan Hall - Why the Midwest becomes ground zero for ice storms AND winter tornadoes

There are very few YouTube personalities that have a more loyal following than Ryan Hall and for good reason. He has become famous for his real-time severe weather coverage that sometimes goes on for more than a dozen hours. The fact that he is one of the most trusted guys on the net is why I put a lot of weight on his predictions which tend to not be overly sensational. His outlook for Missouri specifically brings up two very distinct severe weather possibilities to watch for this winter: ice storms and supercells.

Ryan sees Missouri being in a "battle ground" where fronts will meet this winter which could mean sudden freeze events and potentially even rotating supercell development.

Ryan Hall - "Welcome to the storm track battleground...you're gonna be right there where the cold air from the arctic will be colliding with that warm, moist air from the gulf...here's what stands out to me most...ice storms. The freezing rain potential is running 35 to 40% above normal this year...maybe over into Missouri".

Ryan sees the possibility for rotating supercell thunderstorms even into December and maybe January. One other thing to note. He says that Missouri could be in the area that could see "whiplash" of severe temperature variations with warm weather one week and sub-zero temperatures the next. He also says to not be lulled into a false comfort if the temperatures are warmer than normal at times this winter as a huge cold snap could surprise in late February into March.
