Many people believe that places can be restless when something intense and/or tragic happens there.. That's a theory that also applies to a bridge in Missouri which legends claim is haunted by a bride who lost her life there.

Have you heard of the "Bride Under the Bridge"? The bridge is located in Phelps Grove Park in Springfield, Missouri. During the daytime, it looks innocent enough.

It's what happens near (or under) this bridge at night that makes it interesting. Legends of America says that there was a bride and groom who were traveling over this bridge when their carriage tragically overturned and the bride was killed as her neck was broken. Many believe that she never left this place as she is said to appear nightly with one hand on her bridal gown. Legend says when she lifts the veil, you will not see a face.

This is no miscellaneous ghost either. It's based on a real woman named Mary Phelps who lived in the 1800's. This monument is in Phelps Grove Park.

That's why when you do a search for "Phelps Grove Park Bridge" on YouTube, you'll see countless paranormal investigators who have ventured there to try and capture video of the bride under the bridge.

I've seen numerous reports of an entity that can be seen near here almost nightly, however I have yet to see anyone capture a picture or video. Curious.

Is this just an old tale that's been spun by locals in Springfield, Missouri to freak everyone out or is there real tragic history here that truly makes Phelps Grove Park a restless place?
