The internet needs to make up its mind. One day it claims that Missouri is a training ground for teams of murderers. The next it says we're so happy we have sunshine coming out of our ears. That's the case for a new ranking that says Missouri is home to one of the happiest places in America and I can almost guarantee that you'll be surprised where.

This is the annual happiness ranking by Smart Asset and it has some...interesting conclusions. First, let's get to the lone Missouri appearance in the list. You'll have to scroll a bit, but Missouri is represented.

I'll save you some time if you don't feel like flipping through a list. The happiest city in America at #39 is St. Louis, Missouri. Wait. Weren't we the murder capital recently or was that the narrative for last week? I lose track of what the adjective used to describe our Missouri places is for the day.

I have some other questions I'd like to ask. Their list says that many of the "happiest" cities are in California. If that's the case, why are so many reportedly leaving California in droves? You can't have it both way.

Arlington, Virginia is allegedly the happiest city in America which is true if people sleeping on park benches equals happiness.

I should stop being snarky and just be happy that St. Louis, Missouri made a good list. Even if the conclusions are questionable, it's better than having our citizens being accused of being serial killers I suppose.
